Horizon Residence

Nestled in the heart of Taipei, Horizon Residence redefines the concept of urban living with a design strategy that harmonizes the modernity of residential architecture with the tranquility of nature.

This residential project distinguishes itself through the thoughtful integration of retail spaces on the ground floor, offering convenience at the doorstep of the inhabitants and fostering a vibrant community hub.

My design strategy was centered on the interplay between historical natural elements and the needs of contemporary urban living. By retaining the old
trees and integrating them into a communal square. This public square becomes a focal point for social life, offering a space where residents and visitors alike can converge, relax, and engage with the environment and each other amidst the wisdom of the trees.

Horizontal Façade

The facade of this project features a signature pattern of horizontal balconies that not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also serves as a spatial extension of the living areas, promoting outdoor interaction and offering residents panoramic views of the cityscape and the verdant square. This pattern creates a rhythmic visual cadence that echoes the horizontal lines of the horizon.

Sustainability and resident well-being are central to the design philosophy. The balconies provide natural shading, contributing to the building’s energy efficiency and fostering a microclimate that cools the living spaces, reducing the reliance on artificial cooling systems. Each balcony serves as a private oasis, where residents can bask in natural light and fresh air, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.

Merge with Nature

Emphasizing a design that merges with the preserved natural setting, I ensured that the modern structure complements rather than dominates the square. The ground floor retail spaces offer modern amenities while inviting the public to partake in the site’s natural and historical legacy. This design choice not only promotes sustainability by reducing urban sprawl but also enhances the residents’ quality of life by providing easy access to a tranquil green oasis.
